The alt-right makes it really easy to be a "rebel". You just reject any kind of liberal or progressive world views. These guys also think there is a "white genocide" going on, so that's what's driving it. I think some sort of disgust with modern hook-up culture (or guys having lack of luck within the current dating market) is driving some of this. Get a lonely white guy...expose him to some reddit memes...all the sudden you have an alt-right guy. Trying to package it as "punk" is also helping to spread it.

"white genocide (sic)" is happening but it's called demographics...White people are not having enough babies. It is the death wails of dying white privilege - trust me, I have benefited sweetly from it too but have also strategically positioned myself to reap the rewards of Whitey's Downfall. If it doesn't lead war in the south China Sea, of course...
