https://youtu.be/xrIbsaM41lY - Psycho by Ganksta NIP. Dark, early '90s "horror" rap.

https://youtu.be/7aELH0U2gkk - Tops Drop by Fat Pat. Not really obscure, but he's my personal favorite rapper from home and I've always felt he would have blown up nationally if he wasn't murdered at 27. He could freestyle like crazy too.

https://youtu.be/oR20W0MohzU - You Already Know by HAWK. Fat Pat's brother. Also murdered.

https://youtu.be/-9h89vTQ550 - Knocking Pictures Of Da Wall by Yungstar. He was featured on some Screw tapes and was sick at freestyling too. He had two verses on the iconic "June 27th" freestyle and two verses on "Wanna Be A Baller".

https://youtu.be/InGtiEXQyF0 - Wanna Be A Baller by Lil Troy. Not sure if this is considered obscure, but it rules. Features Yungstar, HAWK, and Fat Pat. Memorable. Should be the TX national anthem.

There's tons of cool shit from Houston if you dig Screw type stuff. I can definitely appreciate good freestyling so some of it is worth checking out.

There's a lot. Users: cranefortune and Jared oughta have a bunch to say on this.

Off top: Blackout, Dreamworld - http://www.themagicswisher.net/2014/12/blackout-dreamworld-1995.html?m=1

CLASSIC ALBUM....Blackout's production is so killer and varied. really tailors whatever he did to the artist he was working with. But Dreamworld is a wonderful nightmare trip.

As far as Memphis obviously start your way off thru all the Three 6 related tapes. Familiarize yourself with all the Tommy Wright III/10 Wanted Men/Niggas of Destruction stuff.

DJ Sound Volume 10 is one of my favorite Memphis records ever....pure evil.

Tom Skeemask solo tape is killer

I love all the female rappers in Memphis... Princess Loko, La Chat, Lady Bee....shit goes so hard

Kingpin Skinny Pimp all that early shit is so hot.

Lil Noid and Red Dog tapes that got the vinyl treatment courtesy of LA Club Resource are killer (Lil Noid got that sick Blackout production)

Playa Fly is killer and often slept on IMO

Children of the Corn, Nigga Creep get the thumbs up

been jamming 2nd Family lately....i mean even the subpar shit is still killer.

Lil Gin CLASSIC

MC Money and Gangsta Gold "Da Hard Ov Frayser" pretty sure same folks from DJ Sounds Vol. 10

I could go on forever....

But the south got it all over...Houston is killer, NOLA is killer, Atlanta obviously is killer

NOLA:
Lil Goldie "Act a Donkie On A"
Soul's of Sorrow "Buck to the Band"
MOBO records in general is pretty sick....
obis early cash money and no limit shit is sick
Young Bleed is the unrecognized star of NO Limit for me.
I will still rock Master P "Mama's Bad Boy"
BAton Rouge: If you don't fuck with Lil Boosie, I don;t fuck with you. His tapes before he went to jail move me. real trap shit

HOuston
UGK for life...Pimp C is one of my favorite rappers of all time. I love Z-Ro...one of the best voices in rap. Fuck how obscure are you trying to get....cos i feel like the stuff I'm naming isn't particularly obscure, especially if you have any interest in this shit at all

Atlanta i could go on for days about...I dunno if you are down with Trap era stuff or if you are looking for 90s kinda shit.

will write back with more suggestions soon
