Sweet Jesus.  That sent me down quite the wormhole.  Crazy that chid porn was legal in Japan in '84.  Never really thought that it was legal anywhere ever.

I can't find a wiki article about parental ambivalence, but this is fascinating me for some reason right now:

The Hatfield- McCoy entry is a good read even if you just look for the names.

Pace University evacuates school after student wears bullet belt

"As reported by the Gothamist, yesterday Pace university was evacuated due to threat of "a man with a gun." After evacuating the school and analyzing the issue, it turns out that it was just a student wearing an anarcho-punk bullet belt. The cause for alarm was triggered when a student was in the bathroom. Meanwhile, another bullet belt wearing student was sitting on the john inside a closed stall. He dropped his pants and belt to the ground. The other student saw the belt from outside the stall and assumed that they were live bullets and cartridges. That student reported what he saw and the school was evacuated. After it was all sorted out, NYPD's deputy commissioner John Miller stated ""[It?s] probably not a very good fashion statement. We?re considering charging one individual with a fashion crime but we?re still conferring with fashion prosecutor.""
