Record storage

What you got? i remember years back there being a thread on this but can't find it.

Everyone knows ikea shelves and whatever..but I'm looking for something cat proof, ideally allowing to flip thru records in a way that you can see front of record jacket (not stacked up so you have to search via binding).

This would be ideal except that it costs the same as a used car.

buts kinda fucking ugly.

post pics, your failed searches..whatever. curious other people have come up with.

That first one is fucking perfect. Looks like the left side has drawers for 45's too.

I'm in the same boat right now. I even went to Walmart and bought a $25 shit-tier bookcase. The cardboard-grade shelves started sagging immediately, so I had to arrange it in a stupid way.

I'd be willing to spend 500 on something as good as that first picture. I'd prefer to spend 100 though, on something reasonable.

Oh, one other question. Do you see the way they have their turntable on top of the record storage? Every time you start to dig through the collection, you'd jostle the needle and fuck up the song. My girlfriend wasn't aware, and didn't put 2 and 2 together that those loud ass thuds were her doing. What's the best practice for the record player itself, by itself, no?

ditto. just started buying records again a year ago or so (previously sold 90% of my collection when i was broke and struggling circa 2011?) and need some legit storage before i start spending real $$$ on records. right now what i have is awful, some ikea rip off shelf that i got for free. just noticed recently that its not deep enough so record jackets that are against the shelf's wall are starting to bow. keeps me up at night as i've recently came across some very expensive records.

if its heavy enough it can go anywhere, if skips is what is concerning you. if its a crowley it goes in the trash.

Got my shit stacked up in cardboard boxes. My local library still lends out LPS; they have their shit stacked in drawers similar to that seven thousand dollar doo-hickie. I doubt the library blew that much money on these drawers, I am sure there is a cheaper option out there.
