groundhogs are fuckin amazing.  most consider split to be their best album, I'd say albums 3-6 are all equally very good (thank christ for the bomb to hogwash).  their first two albums are much more blues rock than the psych rock of the UA albums fyi.  hoggin the stage is also a great live album.

They never really did much for me until a good listen to Thank Christ for the Bomb a few months ago, which is amazing. Just something extremely unique and off-kilter about it...Don't think those first two will ever excite me, but I need to do deeper listens to albs 3-6...

yeah when it clicks it really clicks.  tony is a weirdo.  the first side of hogwash is amazing imo.  really puts blues on its head

Split has probably their most notable singular track ("Cherry Red"..an all time heavy classic), but I don't think it's their finest album.

for years I thought that Thank Christ For the Bomb was their best album as a whole, and while I still think it's incredible, I'm a fairly recent convert to Hogwash.  It's a really dark, bitter record.   I ride hard for it.

Tony McPhee also has a pretty killer solo record called Two Sides of Tony (T.S.) McPhee that's worth checking out.  There's an acoustic side and a "synth" side.  It kind of reminds me of Bill Orcutt at times?
