Enjoyed my first spin of the most recent Funereal Presence last night.

Recently hit this myself. Liked what I heard but gonna need another couple of listens.

Other cool black metal stuff out this year

Ultra Silvam: ripping melodic sound out of Sweden
https://helterskelterproductions.bandcamp.com/album/the-spearwound-salvation

Hellripper: no frills black/thrash metalpunk out of Scotland
https://hellripper.bandcamp.com/

Warmoon Lord: 2nd wave worship out of Finland (not nazi I think which is nice)
https://wolfspellrecords.bandcamp.com/album/burning-banners-of-the-funereal-war

Vargrav album out in a few weeks too. Don't buy it because fuck werwolf

https://smoulder.bandcamp.com/ Smoulder full length out

Great doom, delivers in full on the demo from last year. Already one of my favorites from this year.

https://terrorfromhellrecords.bandcamp.com/album/stygian-dreams

Some flowery death/doom ffo Paradise Lost synths and stuff like that. Pretty good album

I enjoy the Blue Hummingbird on the left lp. I can see the vocals driving people crazy though.

Unbelievable hype for Ares Kingdom and Fetid albums coming in the next couple months

https://nuclearwarnowproductions.bandcamp.com/album/by-the-light-of-their-destruction

https://listen.20buckspin.com/album/steeping-corporeal-mess

Just need Witch Vomit and I'm pretty much set for the year on dm. Departure Chandelier album is insane too, think I like it more than the Blue Hummingbird joint, but that sounded good in its own right.

New Python is kick ass Italo heavy metal worship. Rides that weird line of scuzzy doom and heavy metal.

New Chevalier is a ripper, lo-fi 80's DARK heavy metal: https://chevalier.bandcamp.com/album/destiny-calls-2

Also can't help but enjoy the hell out of Sabire, it's like a goofy mix between WASP and Tank but they've got a couple of great hooks: https://sabireacid7.bandcamp.com/

For more classic heavy metal also check out Vulture's Vengeance: https://vulturesvengeance.bandcamp.com/album/the-knightlore
and Riot City (same singer as Traveler): https://riotcityofficial.bandcamp.com/releases

Black Metal sceptre resides firmly in Funereal Presence's hand for this year, can't imagine a record that will top that.

Ares Kingdom and Fetid delivered in spades, both are tied for death metal of the year for me.

In other news the new Ripped to Shreds EP is absolutely killer HM-2 worship complete with a 10 minute epic. Check it out ya jabronis

https://rippedtoshredsdeathmetal.bandcamp.com/album/demon-scriptures

Superstition next week. Then Tomb Mold and Cerebral Rot later. 20BuckSpin really on the ball this year

Python - Astrological Warfare. Perfectly executed italo hm/doom worship threaded with some truly drugged out synth and noise work. Ginzo Thelemite Insanity !

LUNAR SHADOW

Ridiculously gorgeous sounding heavy metal with flourishes of melodic black metal. Highly recommend.

Nabbed that Vothana 2LP recently.  Catchy/tuneful enough, but is most likely destined for the trade pile.

Excited for the Evil/Siege Column split to show up.  Will blast by the ditch, skate it hard and hopefully bleed.

Didn't know (or had forgotten about) Devorator until today.  Need to scoop the CD box.  Reminds me of when I first started digging deep with black metal and finding tons of bands that, while all bm, sounded totally unique and fucked up.  I'm falling further and further out of it with every passing day so maybe I'm a shit judge, but there is VERY little that moves me within the scene/genre anymore.  Imitations of imitations.

Arnaut Pavle album out in September. I'm pretty new to this band but I've been blasting the demo. Very infectious black/punk. In other metalpunk news if anyone has a lead on a us distro selling the new Doraid album drop me a line. Really excited to hear it.

AND NEW FUCKIN COFFINS

2019 has been a good year for death metal
