I don't think I ever really "got" them when they blew up, and I honestly probably bump 'The Fat of the Land' more these days than when it came out (the two albums before that are sick too). I remember going to the U.K. with my mom ca. '96 or '97 and seeing Keith's face EVERYWHERE and thinking, "man, these guys looking fucking cool!" Even if electronic music didn't quite make sense to me at the time, there was still a mystique there and I'll never forget staying up late to catch the premier of the "Smack My Bitch Up" video -- "whoa! They just showed titties on MTV!"

Apparently he'd tried to reconcile with his ex-wife, got turned down and couldn't handle the news. It's sad that the culture we live in doesn't better encourage healthy outlets for dealing with shit like that, especially for men, as if seeking out therapy is "for pussies," or whatever.

Yeah, word is the wife was about to leave and he decided to off himself rather than deal with it. This is super common for middle aged men who get a divorce. I don't think they had kids, but was probably about to lose a lot of money. Wife seems like kind of a fame digger who herself was trying to make it as a DJ. She's milking it all over social media. Sad shit, RIP. I was never a big fan, but they were huge in the 90's.

Rip keith.

I don't think The Prodigy are important because they produced particularly amazing or cutting-edge music; instead, it's because they brought rave music completely into the mainstream.

They did this by appealing to the young schoolage pop kids (first, around the time of the Experience album), and to the old rock fans (around Fat of the Land).

"Old rock fans" is the big demographic really, cos they bring the real money, and thence global reach and record company attention... and it was this stage that Keith.played the most visible role in the band, as kind of a figurehead.

Seems like he was a nice guy from all accounts I heard.
