Stupid glam metal question
« on: July 03, 2019, 04:34:06 PM »
So I'm filling in on the metal radio show this weekend and i see that July 6 1973 was the release date for the first Queen single "Keep Yourself Alive / Son & Daughter."
So I thought I'd play some heavy Queen shit plus play other 1970's / early 80's glam metal type junk.
you tembro folk usually come up with interesting stuff I've never heard of - any suggestions?

1.) There is no such thing as a "stupid" glam metal question

2.) I'd go with Suzie Quatro, "Man From Mecca" by The Sweet and "Squeeze Me, Pleeze Me" by Slade. Other TB's can delve deeper.

Best of luck.

Hanoi Rocks is the best glam "metal" band, by a significant margin, in my estimation.

Hanoi Rocks really is the best, especially in that they really exceed both those terms...
As far as the rest of "glam-metal"...Sweet is great but dig up some deep cuts...This doesn't waver much from the original but a great song...

Def Leppard - Action
There are probably some good NWOBHM that are on the glam side that would be better than 80's Sunset Strip stuff...

Actually don't know if this qualifies as a deep cut but I love this song...

Sweet - "The Six Teens" Musikladen, 11.11.1974

But if you do want real '80s stuff...

And off your intended course maybe, but The Wildhearts seem to me like a modern take on Sweetish hard rock...YMMV
