Ye Olde Estrus Surf Rock from the 90's....
« on: January 10, 2020, 03:36:26 PM »
What did you dig in the days of yore? Like most, I was a huge Man...or Astroman? fan. Impala's stuff was another one. Bomboras were good; saw them open for the Cramps and they pulled off surf well. First Trashwomen LP was another killer. I used to rock my brother's CD of the "Pulp Fiction" soundtrack...off the era, but it had a huge effect on this time period and genre.

Memories? Favorites? Hate this stuff?

Jackie & the Cedrics (best live band of its kind!) and I liked the fact that Satan's Pigrims had two rhythm guitars like the Astronauts.

Never really got into much of the surf revival stuff, but I do really like the later Man or Astroman? stuff, from EEVAK onwards.

Not a fan of surf rock but like(d) plenty of other Estrus Releases/bands (The Mono Men, Mummies, The Makers, Swingin' Neckbreakers, etc.).

I saw them in high school, a bit before this, and it was one of the most incredible shows I have ever seen in my life. They projected space footage onto a giant screen in the background and played for like an hour...I wasn't on drugs but felt like I was on drugs. One of the best live shows I saw in the 90s.
