It's perfectly fine to not like a band.  Or to find their music not clicking with you.  Or you just don't get what the fuss is all about.  But then to turn to an entire community of people with varying tastes and telling a large portion of them what you like "sucks dog dick" and makes you a dumb person isn't going to strike up the healthiest of conversations.

My apologies for the punknews.org stab.  That wasn't very nice.  But if you try to be a little less hostile with unpopular opinions, you may get a better response.

These days I usually don’t listen to music, but when I do, I find it’s usually something I’m not too familiar with, like Thug Murder.

i don't speak for everyone, but personally, i don't care if you hate the fall, but i would encourage you to listen to music more. it seems like you want to "have debates" about "controversial opinions about bands" I guess, to which your subsequent arguments have essentially been that you won't take anyone who listens to the fall seriously, and that people listen to the fall to feel smart, implying that they were dumb before i guess. And you don't really listen to music.

You seem like a nice guy who has been through a lot, and while this board is certainly not a stranger to stupid shit talk about bands and whatnot, this specific "argument" you have been making is coming off as just trying to pick a fight rather than debate, especially as you are seemingly on a singular attack of one person in your last few posts who has been running one of the most interesting labels of recent years and has contributed more in the past few years to those of us who constantly listen to music than most people could in a few lifetimes.

I'm not sure that debating really makes sense when it comes to music either but that's actually probably a more worthwhile debate to talk about than the fall vs. the descendants/jane's addiction or whatever is going on.

i don't care if you or anyone else like the fall or whoever i might like. why would i? its not mandatory. i don't give a fuck. i am interested tho, in how/why two people can hear the same thing and perceive it completely differently. like, you said somewhere on here that the saints are probably your favourite band. i fucking love the first 3 saints lp's too...but do we like them for the same reasons and get similar things from them? i dunno. i kinda doubt it, but i dunno.

Sprague - your list looks similar to mine (if I bothered)! I just think Kurious Oranj is a better album than Frenz and am not so sure about The Real New Fall. Levitate is also very good but probably one of those "it's good if you're a fan" kind of ways.

Sorry to hear that, I just heard about that from a friend who lives here in London but is italian and went back there for a bit a few weeks ago... yeah straight from work to lockdown every day. I actually got the Covid a few weeks ago! from a pub quiz.
