I assume some of you would like this or have read it:

Real Deal Comix. Fantagraphics. 2016.

That old Vampirella stuff is classic. I had a ton of issues, but had to let them go on Ebay. The story lines aren't as good as old E.C. stuff or anything, but they are well worth reading. As are "Creepy" and "Eerie".

Is "Losing in Gainesville" any good? I've actually thought about ordering it.

"Glow Kids" my Nicolas Kardaras. Pretty well written book by a drug and alcohol specialist about how addictive the new technology is. Also has some good information about addiction in general. Not fully convinced that texting is as bad as smoking crack, but he makes a good case. He points out, which a lot of writers have lately, that people like Steve Jobs would refuse to let their kids have smart phones. They knew what was going on. Good read if you are into this type of spiel.

Reading Bob Mould's autobio (written with Michael Azerrad). I am really digging it. I dug the Huskers up until Zen Arcade, which I liked but though Metal Circus "kicked ass" and was still too punk to be able to like them after that, especially after seeing them at a show that Mould says was when the major label vultures swooped down to eat the punk carcass. I later got hugely into Mould with Sugar and was replaying Zen Arcade a lot lately, thinking it really is pretty great, but even Mould doesn't hold it is such great esteem...I try the post-ZA Husker albums but there is just something in the production that puts me off. I haven't bothered with trying Warehouse Songs. He barely mentions it, other than it was a double album because him and Grant both refused to cut their songs. Mould never even listened to the Living End due to it being a cash grab. Lot's of "never talked to him again for a long time..."
Seems like music books are the only thing I can read these days. Put the Brix autbio on hold for Mould's and also have the Sun Ra bio on deck...

Hillbilly Elegy: It's written by an ex-marine/kentucky hillbilly kid who ended up going to Yale and becoming successful. Gives a really good explanation as to why Middle America voted for Trump.

"Peak Performance", a new self help book by two co-authors. One of them is an athlete and one of them is in economics. It's your basic pop pysch book about how to streamline your life. The only thing I got out of this is that it's important to sleep well. I have to stop reading psychology and self help books. Also got "Love is a Dog From Hell", which I always enjoy reading.

Stoked to start this

Went to B&N on a whim the other night, slightly high, and walked out with this after they didn't have what I went in there looking for. I didn't even know that it existed, just caught my eye on a sale rack, and I spent a good chunk of the weekend plowing through it. I'd been slowing plodding my way through 'The Savage Detectives' and needed something good, quick, and easy to get me through. Not that 'Savage Detectives' is necessarily difficult, it's just kind of a slog most of the time, and I wanted something a bit more engaging. This delivers. Great story about one of my favorite rappers out there. Nothing fancy, just good and entertaining. And pretty funny at times too. The story about his ice cream cone tattoo is pretty great.

Just got this, haven't started it but flipping through it looks like it has some rad stories. I was expecting a more 'this-band-that-band' kind of reader but this thing looks loaded with good stuff!

"The War of Art" by Steven Pressfield. Really good book; I read it all in one sitting. Great advice for creative types on how to overcome blocks and mental resistance. Extremely well written. The end gets a little spiritual/religious, but nothing intolerable. If you are creative, give this book a go.

That Portland punk book looks great.
