With all due respect, sir, you were the most egomaniacal and stupid of the bunch. It was painful to read a word you wrote.

I apologize if you were suffering from brain damage.

Man I don't know.  There's just as much shit it TB that will be unfasionable in a year or so.  Some of those records are as good as the shit that gets good reviews now. The little fashion trend has just moved. In 2 years people will be scoffing at the current hip shit.

June 2001:
-Strokes "Modern Age":The CDEP is a taste test of what we can expect in the coming months. The Strokes have a full length coming out later in the summer. And if it is anything like these three songs, you better watch out.  People need to hear more good shit like this. It?s catchy, simplistic, hard hitting and artistic enough to get awared my Neoteric label.
This EP plays well with my speed intake. Drugs won?t make it better because The Strokes are hot! Fuck that, they deserve more. The Strokes are HOTT! I listened to this CD over and over. It inspires me to do art.

this is easily the best thing i've ever read posted in this entire forum.

TRUTH!

One was mine, the rest Joe & Shawn (I think). Yeah, it's easy to dig up embarassing shit from the past. BG at the time was out on its own, Joe was the only onliner reviewing the kinda stuff I liked, so I joined up. Then Icki, Shawn, Shaun, Eric, Rich, etc., it was inspiring enough to get the TB crew together in the first place. Look at old Forced Exposures, Slash, fucking any old "revered" mag, and you'll see some crazy dated & outright incorrect shit. But the point of BG being "better," I dunno, I think TB is better. But for its time, BG was the best thing out there.

In terms of content, TB is way, way, better than BG was.

Exploding the "Things were better in the Blank Generation days" myth.

I honestly had no idea anyone even thought was true in the first place. What a bizarre thread.

Anyone who tries to pull the "good old days" line on you either wasn't around in the "good old days" or has had absolutely nothing going on since the "good old days." The good old days are a myth. Yeah, a snickers might have tasted better 20 years ago, but have you tasted some of the italian and swiss chocolate bars that are pretty easy to find nowadays that you couldn't regularly get 20 years ago? The same dudes who go on and on about the good old days are the same ones that get moist palms when The Vandals do a reunion tour. They are no better than Beatle fan who claims that rock & roll died when the Beatles broke up.

I've got an old Forced Exposure on the back of the toilet tank. I flip through the reviews while I am taking a crap and often chuckle at the great reviews they sometimes gave to the worst crap imaginable. Hell, I once gave a positive review to Screw 32. We all are guilty.

nah, there is one reason and one reason only why the "good old days" were so fucking good...

it's called "youth".

otherwise, the "good old days" ain't much different than "good old today".

It's not even what is getting praised but more how terrible some of that writing is.

I don't have a lot of room to talk. My shit is not as on-point as it used to be, before I picked up pen again for this rag. Yes, I know my puns are awful. I'm trying. It's like sucking dick. Ya just gotta keep doin it, and one day, Voila!, 10 second orgasm.

I discovered BG right as it was closing up shop, which led me to Termbo. And the rest is misery.....

The funniest thing is I lived in Cincinasty for a minute back in the late 90s and I had a couple zines by that Neoteric guy (Shawn or something?). Man, what a fucking wasteland that town was back then. I think I went to about 5 shows in 6 months. I do that in a week sometimes, even in Cleveland.

Against All Authority "Destroy What Destroys You": Tunes like "Another Fuck You Song", "Walking Revolution", and "Under Your Authority" are fast, hard hitting, and leave you pissed off. This is one excellent album so don't miss out!

-Boris the Sprinkler "8 testicle POGO machine": Many people I talk to think this isn't a very good Boris release. I disagree. Although it isn't the usual geek rock infested mania like the later records, it definitely rocks.

- Groovie Ghoulies "World Contact Day": The Groovie Ghoulies are a pop punk party. Kepi, Roach, and now Panic, and B-Face rock all. This record has 11 great songs

These albums are STILL cool.

Of course the good ole days suck if you define them by some crumby ole webzine.  Shit's sucked since Roman times.  Deal with it.
