i cant even imagine being with somebody who doesnt like the same music as me.  the only way that would work is if they didnt like music at all because i am sure as hell not gonna listen to music i dont like half the time.

Bingo!!  That's pretty much my situation but not exactly.  She likes music, it just isn't a passion.  She likes (old) Madonna, Cindi Lauper, Siouxsie, Cure, Depeche Mode, Postal Service, Modest Mouse, etc.  Stuff I'm not crazy about (except Siouxsie).  I love playing her obscure (to her at least) records that I think she'll like, but most of the time I get the "meh" response.  But she loves me for me geekiness so it all balances out.

To all the girls on here:

Are most of your female friends all into the same stuff as you, as far as being obsessed with records, finding new bands, going to shows, etc.??

Because in my personal experience my group of friends (the "punk" ones) have consisted almost exclusively of guys with a few token girls who are just as nerdy as us but somehow the girls never get along?  Go figure.

First, I find it hard pressed to even find dudes who go to/ have gone to as many shows as me and some of my girlfriends. In general, we are thick as thieves. Sure you are gonna have a few scuffles along the way cos' so and so fucked so and so's ex etc. but in what circles doesn't that happen? As far as shows it depends on the kind of music your talking about, but in general I think there's more girls out than ever now, and I grew up in the female minority of punk, hardcore and garage shows. The mother lode was that power pop fest. Man, that place was littered with strange wool probably the most I've seen in a long time. I have found though that even girls I meet outside of music like through work etc. just need a mixed cd or two and they end up coming out, checking out bands, and dj nights. It's just getting the right folks exposed to the good shit....

yeah you guys are lucky....there seem to be alot of cool girls in san francisco/oakland!!

my best friend/ex is a hardcore obsessive nut, she doesnt however play nicely with other girls, kinda treats them badly and is really sexist/shallow in her views on them. Always says their only into it for fashion etc and slates them for being intrested in anything girly at all eg:makeup, clothes etc.

Shes great an all, just sometimes makes me a little depressed, ive got a lot of female friends who are into it a lot, sometimes as much as guys, sometimes more, all my girl friends want to go to shows and its how i usually go to them to be honest kinda as a chaparone or whatever. I've started to enjoy shows less and less these days, too many pricks.
I heard the people who lived on the ceiling
Scream and fight most scarily
Hearing that noise was my first ever feeling
That's how it's been all around me

About being a chaperone, why?  Are we talking the jock/metal kinda hardcore?  My apologies if so.

In my experience and what I have observed is that women are much less pushy about turning people on to music. There is also no hidden agenda, like trying to get laid, when someone like dulcinea gives one of her girls a cdr. I also know that women are very open to being turned on to music, as much as anyone else. So I am guessing that women respond to women much more positively than they do to men in this respect.

And yeah being in San Francisco probably helps a lot. sorry, but idiotic assumptions like chicks just aint into music dont fly here. go to a show and the evidence is quite to the contrary.

I think the real question isn't women but rather negros.  Why are they never there? I swear to God they think they're better than everybody.

my girlfriends are all into goin to shows and getting drunk as hell... we might have slightly different tastes in what we listen to on our own, and I think I'm the biggest record nerd out of all of em (that aint sayin much though) but we all go to the same shows..  I forgot the question.

yeah for me it's not as much music as the deal breaker for a 'relationship', as whether or not he's a christian.  if you believe in jesus, man, i just can't take you seriously.
I fucking hate 99% of you
