Love Norm MacDonald but there are just some episodes of his vidcast I cannot bear to watch...Loved his book also.

Glad to hear that Todd Glass's special is good...Kinda got bored with the second season of Lady Dynamite but her last special on Netflix was great...

nah

both Chappelle's Netflix things were painfully unfunny.  Just feels like your old crochety uncle bitching and complaining about things being too PC.  Tell some jokes, motherfucker damn.  Then again I never thought Chappelle's standup was ever that funny even in his youth.

Maria Bamford is so unfunny, I get actual anxiety trying to watch her shit.  Show is fucking terrible.

Comedians in Cars isn't funny at all.  I loved Seinfeld the show but Jerry has never been funny AT ALL in his life.  The only reason his show worked was Jason Alexander and Julia Louis Dreyfus.

Didn't really like Marc Maron's show on Netflix either

Haven't seen any Peretti yet

At this point, does anyone really want Artie to get it together?  I feel like getting fucked up is his reason d'etre.  Just let my man max out on booze, coke and cheeseburgers.....everyo ne ain't meant to make it to 70 y'know.  He's still my guy tho

bamford is the best, i can see it being hard to enjoy if you think she is playing a character or something though.  shes definitely not.

I understand it's not a character or a put on.

Just purely not funny point blank

I like some Hannibal Burress stuff.....but he is super hit or miss.  I've heard some really good stuff and also some really corny try hard stuff from him as well.

Damn, Scorpio.  One found himself giggling at Chappelle, like one always does.  And chuckling hard at Bamford.  But one's funnybone is his own and not another's, one supposes.

It's true: Hannibal can be hilarious or boring as fuck.  His first special was great but he's fallen off.

I didn't watch Chappelle's most recent specials, but when the first one came out it got a lot of criticism on social media around here for it's supposed transphobia. A lot of folks said they disappointed, especially since he's fairly local (from nearby Yellow Springs, which is one of the most liberal towns in Ohio, apparently).

I really didn't think that criticism was justified personally... guess that's easy for me to say tho. I thought they were pretty great all of the new ones.

The Chapelle stand-ups were alright, my GF hated them. I loved his older stuff. I read somewhere that throughout the 90s he never really fit in with the BET soundstage type comics and always had predominantly white audience and that other black comedians never really took to him. I wish I remember where I read it so I could link the article. All the more interesting that he sort of became the voice of a certain generation early/mid 2000s.

also, my current favorite stand up is Nigel Farage verbally berating the EU council. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bypLwI5AQvY dude is my idol currently.

Chapell was funny, but the mania surrounding it turned me off completely. I think people forget how huge that was. Watching the Prince bit over and over with a bunch of stoners? Come on. I remember briefly dating a hipster girl at that time, and she stopped one of her parties to throw a DVD in and everybody gathered around the TV. It was just too much.

Well, look at the namedropper over here. I sat just a few rows away from Tom Wopat on a flight from Nashville to Detroit back in 1987, and you don't see me bragging. Hell, I spoke to Art Bell on open lines Friday and he hung up on me... but do I htoot my own horn. .44 Caliber Killer Ronnie Johns attended my middle school and high school, but do I try to gain street cred by referencing him?

In regards to Norm There's a YouTube user "I'm not norm" who uploads a new compilation every week or so with norm on different topics. It's pretty much all I watch.

I have a near-obsessive compulsion to have watched all norm footage that i'm aware of. he's one of the most brilliant minds alive.

I thought Judah Friedlander's netflix joint was really great. Directorial choices were excellent. The best standup special i've watched in a long time, aside from the Chappelle in DC/Comedy Store pair
