I can kinda see Reatard shirts in Hot Topic. Something has to replace all the merch of all the emo bands he's gonna kill. But really, I think he could make headway in that demographic, his stuff is pretty enough for the chicks and raging enough for the dudes. Don't sell him short, I think he can take the mainstream world by storm and get paid for real. MTV might not be impossible. I'm serious, and not making fun or dissing here. I hope he kills shit.
Rich must hook up with a lot of hip young girls or have his pulse on the finger of humanity because he is exactly right with what he is saying here. I DJ at a bar here weekly and I've seen NO LESS than a half dozen different girls walk into the bar in the last month and a half wearing this shirt:
I know that's not exactly a lot, but its still more of any one t-shirt than I've seen anyone wearing since everyone was crazy about Sufjan Stevens a few years back. All girls, too.
When you play "Nightmares" at a DJ night now, people actually dance and sing along (and know the words). I acknowledge this is a small sample of the exact demographic I am trying to attract, but still, would have you imagined this, say, three years ago? Its kind of crazy.
I disagree about the Black Lips not having as much girl appeal, though. They're appealing to pretty much the exact same demographic.
