It was at horrible NYC punk club the Continental

i'd been there a few times...during my year long stint living in that town. never had fun there, either.   best thing about it was the pizza next door.  best pizza i had in the city...except for Koronet, of course.

i was only there for happy hour once. st. marks pizza ruled! now it's a restaurant called "chickpea." sounds dirty. too bad, cuz it was the only really good pizza on the block.

Once upon a time (early-mid 90s) there actually were occasional good shows there.  I recall a Crypt Records showcase for CMJ where the New Bomb Turks were having the set of their career, but had the plug pulled on them becuase Jonathan Fire*Eater (why he was tacked on to the end of this show I'll never understand) had to go one before midnight or 1 AM or something.  I also saw the Fells there.  I think it was a Sunday night, no cover, and there were maybe 5 other people in the club.  There were definitely some others.  Joey Ramone used to hang out front all the time, as he lived across the street and up one block (a friend of mine had an apartment in the building and had stories about helping him put quarters in the laundry machines as he could never figure out how to do it himself.)

I do miss that pizza place.  But it was kind of ridiculous where they'd pile on a huge amount of a toping, then even more cheese on top.  It was hard to finish one piece.  Chickpea is pretty decent though.  The place I really miss is Munchie's around the corner which was junkie city, but they baked their own bagels fresh all night long.

Thanks James. We discussed these clips about eight pages ago. C'mon man, you're HRPSman, you should know better.

Hey Richie...pretty much every post under this account for the last couple of weeks has been from my asshole roommate Jon Sewell...even the ones he has signed my name to. I'm logging off and switching the password. Sorry.

You can see him perform live at Ground Zero fest in Texas with his brilliant band Cheap Time.

I met him when they played here in Buffalo. Nice fella. He seemed shocked I knew about the Episode 7" and liked it. Cheap Time might be the best bands I saw all year, that LP is going to be soooooo good.

Stigma and the rest of AF and a bunch of assorted spikey haired drunk punk kids that hang around are all in a scene in Matthew Barney's Cremaster Cycle if anyone caught that when it was running.

Crucial High Art.
Neil Young's coke booger from the Last Waltz. I bought it at an auction of rock memorabilia

Has anyone here actually ever sat through a whole Cremaster film?  They all played here a few years ago, but somehow the fun of seeing a 4 hour long silent movie of clips was lost on me.

kinda surprised to hear people canning the continental. i went/played there a couple of times and had a great time. noel ford the booker was a real friendly and helpful guy too. alberto used to get the guys at st marks pizza to give him milkshake cups full of their napoli sauce to take home for his girl to make pasta. and it was good!

I once introduced my girlfriend to Vinnie Stigma at a bar.
Did you gave him a chair to stand on so they could have eye contact? But seriously I talked to him once, friendly bloke, but very tiny as most Yankee hardcore icons are.

Anywayz, Jay is innocent!
