Yes, the same Shutups who hated "Rip Off shit" but were almost signed to the label and made a big deal about it and did a Problematics cover set around that time, the same Shutups who have had 37 different members, the same Shutups who have had Eric on bass, on guitar, just singing, Lugs on bass, Lugs on drums, etc., the same Shutups who were "Shutup" and pop punk, the same Shutups were have been a metal band, a Junk Records band, a Dwarves-style band, a hardcore (speed) band, the same Shutups who added an organ to get a Lost Sounds sound but hate Lost Sounds, the same Shutups. An enigma wrapped in a bratwurst.
I thought they sound more like Murder City Devils with the keyboard.

That sounds stupid.  They're nice guys and all, but huh?

Haha, we played a problematics song at a show with them a year ago and they said that the problematics were one of their least favorite rip off bands, after denouncing rip off records and supercharger all together..

I remember they were sitting in my living room at the time and the newest issue of HozAc was on the coffee table, and they were like "Oh, you guys got a really good review in here" and I had already read it and seen how their split CD was hated on and they started looking through it and they got to that page and they got so mad that HA made fun of them for having an MCD CD on their album cover.  It was funny.

I remember that.
When they picked up the mag, we all just got really quiet waiting for the reaction.

Yeah, totally - most of 'em are friends of mine, some are really good friends, too, but they're ridiculous when it comes to music and they contradict themselves all the time! I've caught Eric doing that a bunch of times, and he knows when he's fulla shit and just laughs about it. They're from Sheboygan - if you've ever been there (and I'm sure you've never had a reason to), you'd understand.

It's just like the Modern Machines - I'll always be chums w/ them, but they SUCK and have no taste. John is in Bear Proof Suit now, though, and they're fucking great.

Dan & Steve---You guys totally have 'em pegged.  I can relate to everything you said..  Nice guys (at times), but they're all kinda' off in their own little world.. They've given me shit for not liking NOFX & ska punk and shit and called me a hipster 'cuz of it, which is just funny.  Like Todd sez, they've switched their sound & members so many goddamn times that it's almost like a running joke what they're gonna do next.. Funny thing is they'll probably be playing art damaged punk (or whatever is/was 'cool' lately) or something 10 years from now.

Lugs brought us on tour with the Real Losers when that issue of HA came out (we didn't have a van, he did & offered to drive us), and I remember seeing his reaction when he read that Shutups review.. Fuck, that was hilarious!

Those guys don't exactly like me for some reason.
