mccoy was one of few hard bop musicians to continue writing in the genre (and "post-bop") after 1970.  his 70s-80s albums, mostly for milestones, are all very cheap, but are all good, however lacking the well known sidemen of his blue note and impulse recordings.

picked up the Soul Jazz reissue recently....anyone else into this album?  wasn't familiar with dude at all prior to this but it's great.  all over the place--super-free moments, drum/percussion exploration, weird Stark Reality-esque vocal numbers.
